Tell Us About Yourself

Revel Rail Australia Felix Moore

My name is Felix Moore, I'm 16 years old. I live on a bush block in Scotsburn Victoria, and I'm lucky enough to have a few trails run through our property. They loop further out in the bush which makes it very easy to jump on your bike and go for a ride and have a 20km loop literally on our doorstep. Besides mountain biking I really enjoy camping, being outdoors and making things.

What off road riding do you do?
I race both Downhill and Gravity Enduro, and try to fit both Victorian series in, which can be a bit difficult, so when it comes down to one or the other I rather racing enduro because you get much more bike time and get to see a lot more tracks compared to downhill and only racing one track over and over. I've had more success in the Enduro series winning the 2019/2020 enduro series in under 15 and second in U17 in the 2020/2021 enduro series.

Why Revel Bikes?
We chose to get a Revel because I was starting to outgrow my Kona process and started looking at all the options and a lot of the potential options were 29????? and I didn't feel like I was ready for a bigger wheel size because I enjoy the way 27.5 is easier to throw around. The suspension travel and geometry looked perfect for what I was after with a bit more travel than what I had for the more gnarly trails while still being easy to pedal and not too heavy. Looking further into Revels, the suspension system really started to glow in my eyes because it looked like a fantastic system for pedaling and the way it handles steps and sharp hits. The fantastic support from ORBO was also a factor in choosing a Revel. When I got my bike I really noticed the peddling and how it didn't have an effect on the suspension which made it fantastic for pinch climbs to really put the power to the ground when you need to. I really noticed it riding some local trails on a short steep climb because when I put power down it went straight to the ground and gave me more power and grip.

Tell us about your mountain bike (past and future plans)
On my Rail I have Rockshox suspension, KS Dropper, Hope wheels, Spank components and Shimano brakes and drivetrain. I recently got a 12 speed XT drivetrain and everything works like a dream.

Any exciting off road plans coming up?
In the first week of February 2022 Dad and I are going across to Tasmania to race the TransTas Enduro, which was supposed to be early this year but due to covid was postponed. It's a 5 day race with stages at Queenstown Derby and Maydena. I've raced at Maydena before for the Enduro national champs where I placed 3rd in under 15's. I'm super excited for this race because it will be a fantastic experience. Dad has raced the Trans New Zealand Enduro a couple of times and if that's anything to go by, it will be a ride of a lifetime. I will have to put in some serious training if all goes ahead because there's about an average of 1500 metres of climbing each day for 5 days so it will be a serious challenge.

Thanks for the info Felix, keep railing! You can find him on insta @mtba_felix - we will keep an eye out for those events. Get in touch with us if you have any questions or want to order one.
